Tuesday, November 20th (Public Hearing at Regular Council meeting)

Introduction to the California Voting Rights Act, Paso Robles demographics, the rules and goals in districting, and opportunity for the public to share thoughts on the neighborhoods/communities of interest in the city and how the draft maps should be developed.

Wednesday, December 5 (Community Forum) 6 PM at Centennial Park

This meeting will provide more in depth information on the Federal and traditional criteria for setting boundaries and familiarize residents with demographic data, mapping tools and case histories of cities that have transitioned to by-district elections.

Tuesday, December 18 (Public Hearing at Regular Council meeting)

Deadline for initial map submissions from the public. Any map submitted after this time cannot be posted in time for consideration at the March 5th hearing.

Tuesday, February 26

Deadline for posting (on the Draft Maps page of this website) all draft maps that will be considered at the March 5th hearing.

Tuesday, March 19 (changed from March 5) (Public Hearing at Regular Council meeting)

First formal public hearing at which the draft maps and proposed election sequencing will be formally introduced and residents are encouraged to share their thoughts and suggestions.

Tuesday, March 26

Deadline for posting (on the Draft Maps page of this website) any new draft maps that will be considered at the March 26th hearing.

Tuesday, April 2 (changed from March 26)(Public Hearing at Regular Council meeting)

Second formal public hearing at which the draft maps and proposed election sequencing will be formally introduced and residents are encouraged to share their thoughts and suggestions. The public hearing may be followed by Council selection of a map and associated election sequence and introduction of the ordinance adopting the map and election sequence.

Tuesday, April 16 (changed from April 2) (Regular Council meeting)

If the ordinance was introduced at the April 2nd meeting, the second reading and final adoption will be on the agenda for this April 16th meeting.

If the ordinance was not introduced April 2nd, following public input the Council will select a map and election sequence and introduce the ordinance formally adopting them.

May (Regular Council meeting)

(If needed) Council 2nd reading and final adoption of districting ordinance.

November, 2020

First by-district election held in two Council districts.

March – October, 2021

Districts revised to reflect 2020 Census data.

November, 2022

First by-district election held in remaining two Council districts (along with a citywide Mayoral election).
